UAE structural submissions are typically built around one of a handful of internationally recognized design codes, and which one applies depends on the authority and the structural material involved. This page explains what each code covers in plain terms; it does not reproduce any code content — for authoritative text, always consult the official publication from the relevant code body (ACI, ASCE, BSI/Eurocode) or the applicable UAE/Dubai Building Code documentation.
- ACI 318 — reinforced concrete design, commonly referenced by Dubai Municipality and DMT
- BS 8110 / Eurocode 2 (BS EN 1992) — concrete structures, commonly referenced by Trakhees and Sharjah
- UBC 97 — a seismic design basis still referenced on some legacy Dubai projects
- ASCE 7 — wind and live load provisions, commonly referenced by DDA and DMT
- Eurocode 3 (BS EN 1993) — steel structure design, used across all emirates
This checklist is a preparation aid, not professional advice for a specific project — every project should still be reviewed individually.
