Not every structural report is written for the same audience or the same use โ a report for an authority submission, a lender, and a curious buyer all need slightly different things emphasized, even when the underlying finding is the same.
- A clearly stated scope โ what was inspected or assessed, and what wasn't
- Findings presented element by element, not just a general summary
- A clear conclusion on structural adequacy for the stated purpose
- A structural integrity certificate where the report is feeding a permit or NOC application
- The engineer's stamp and registration, valid for the authority or purpose the report is intended for
This checklist is a preparation aid, not professional advice for a specific project โ every project should still be reviewed individually.
