A structural inspection moves faster when access and background information are arranged in advance. This isn't a substitute for the inspection itself, just preparation.
- Clear access to foundations, columns, beams and roof structure where possible
- Any existing drawings or previous inspection reports
- A list of specific concerns — a crack, a sagging element, water ingress — with approximate location and when first noticed
- Any recent renovation or modification history
- Photographs of the concern over time, if available (useful for tracking whether it's changing)
This checklist is a preparation aid, not professional advice for a specific project — every project should still be reviewed individually.
